NAEA

EA Journal CPE

The EA Journal offers a low-cost, convenient way for enrolled agents to earn up to 14 continuing professional education (CPE) credit hours each year. Each issue contains a test worth 2 CPE hours, and the November/December issue contains an additional 2 CPE hour bonus. The May/June issue, which focuses on ethics, qualifies toward the IRS ethics requirement for renewal!

The CPE tests are based on the articles in that particular journal issue. By carefully reading all the articles, enrolled agents will be well-prepared to pass the test. There are two ways to submit the test for grading:

  • Use the test form provided in the journal (as a tear out), providing the information requested on the front, and filling in the appropriate bubbles on the answer sheet on the back. This form should be mailed along with payment to NAEA Home CPE, 1120 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Suite 460, Washington, DC 20036-3953.
  • Use the tests and forms below. Complete the application, and simply circle the appropriate answer directly on the CPE test. Fax the application and test to 202-822-6270. The application and test may also be mailed to NAEA at the address above. Contact NAEA Programs Manager Diana Velasco at dvelasco@naea.org with any questions.

NAEA will grade the test and issue a certificate of completion for the appropriate number of CPE hours. A passing score is 75% or higher to receive credit. Those who do not pass the first time will be eligible to re-take the test without additional payment. To qualify for CPE credit, the test must be completed and submitted to NAEA within one year from the publication of that particular issue. Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing of your test.

The Journal, which is published bi-monthly, offers feature articles that explain in-depth complicated issues in clear concise terms, insights into the big picture, no-nonsense succinct reporting on the most important developments in Tax Court law and rulings, as well as authoritative updates on the latest initiatives and developments on Capitol Hill and at the IRS. In addition, the journal highlights the activities of NAEA members and leadership, emphasizes ways enrolled agents can build and market their practices, reviews current books of interest to NAEA members, and provides a customizable newsletter which can be used to send to clients.

The EA Journal is mailed to all members and associates of NAEA and is available through a subscription. NAEA members may also access the magazine through the Publications section of the NAEA website.
