The successful candidate will command a strong understanding of the Internal Revenue Code as it relates to employee fringe benefits, retirement and healthcare planning and also be well versed and experienced in tax resolution matters. This position will have the opportunity to assist in the development of a new tax resolution department under the guidance and supervision of our Tax Director and his management team.  The position will encompass working primarily as a tax paralegal of which training will be provided for qualified Enrolled Agents.

Responsibilities:
• Communicate with clients via the phone, internet and/or in person daily.
• Communicate with the supervisors daily and when needed Internal Revenue Service personnel.
• Assist client with documentation of tax strategies and maintain excellent records regarding communications with clients on both tax consulting and tax resolution engagements.
Requirements:
• Licensed Enrolled Agent Certificate of Completion
• Demonstrate excellent team skills, a positive attitude and high ethical standards.
• 1-3 years of experience in Tax Resolution work. Experience required in handling offer & comprises, bank levies, tax liens, tax returns, and other resolution strategies.
• A strong command of the English language both written and spoken.
• Strong work ethic and a desire to meet with and communicate with clients both face-to-face and over the phone.
• Willingness to think outside the box.
• Strong Attention to detail.
• Have extensive experience working with Excel, Word, e-mail, and must be very internet savvy.

Job description

Provides technical fiduciary tax expertise to U.S. Trust and other BAC LOB client teams focused on differentiating client service and expanding client relationships. Insures all tax responsibilities required of assigned accounts are fulfilled, achieving client focused service standards and complying with bank standards and policies, and federal and state tax laws. Typically responsible for the more complex fiduciary tax matters. 

Key Job Responsibilities: 
1. Prepares and/or reviews the more complex trust, estate or charitable tax returns 
2. Tax administration responsibilities required of assigned accounts including tax code research as required; GST review, tax return preparation and PACE maintenance; account status change tax review and action; ongoing static (account and beneficiary) and transaction data review and management; zero cost sales identification and Trust Officer notification; 65 day election coordination; tax refund processing; 
3. Provide tax expertise to address client needs. Proactively identifies opportunities to contact a Trust Officer regarding a tax matter in support of the enhancing client service and expanding relationships. 
4. New and Closed account tax administration: New accounts - tax document review (taxability and tax characteristics determination) and PACE/Tracking coding; Closed accounts - determination and communication of tax reserves 
5. Quarterly estimated trust tax payment 
6. Maintain knowledge of subject matter: Fiduciary tax law, regulatory and compliance requirements, estate planning and tax planning techniques. Maintain knowledge and awareness of U.S. Trust integrated advice for trust and wealth planning.

Qualifications

An undergraduate/graduate degree in accounting, finance and/or CPA certification and/or equivalent relevant work experience in fiduciary income taxation. 

A minimum of 5 years experience in a fiduciary tax services department. 

A strong working knowledge of fiduciary tax return preparation and processing in a high volume environment using OneSource. 

Able to multi-task and manage multiple priorities while delivering results. 

Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. 

Strong teaming orientation and computer literacy.
