Each episode features practitioners, IRS insiders, educators, and policy advocates to explore what it means to represent taxpayers, build a practice, and shape the future of the EA profession.
This show features practitioners, IRS insiders, educators, and policy advocates who bring unusually diverse backgrounds to the conversation. For example, past guests include a magician-turned-tax-controversy-specialist, a former IRS communications chief, and a wealth manager. In addition, listeners have heard from a music-influenced policy advocate and a university professor who trains the next generation of tax pros.
Of course there’s talk about taxes, policy and sometimes referencing tax code sections, but more importantly it’s honest conversation about what it actually takes to serve taxpayers at the highest level. Beyond technical knowledge, the show treats emotional intelligence as a core professional skill.

The Enrolled Agent Advocate is the official podcast of the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA). Specifically, it covers tax law, IRS cases, enrolled agent careers, practice tips for tax pros, and real life stories.
This podcast is produced by NAEA, the nation’s largest association solely dedicated to enrolled agents. It is hosted by Brandy Spears, Director of Marketing and Communications, and features guest experts, working EAs, and tax policy leaders.
An enrolled agent is a federally licensed tax expert approved by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. As a result, EAs have full rights to speak for any taxpayer before the IRS.
This podcast is ideal for enrolled agents, CPAs, tax preparers, and anyone thinking about a career in tax. It is also a great fit for people studying for the Special Enrollment Exam (SEE). Listeners from all backgrounds are welcome — whether you want career tips, tax news, or simply want to learn what enrolled agents do.
New episodes come out every two weeks. Therefore, subscribing on your platform of choice is the easiest way to make sure you never miss one.
We want to hear from you. Do you have a topic idea, a question for a future episode, or an interest in being a guest? Tax professionals and subject matter experts are always welcome.
Send us a note at eapodcast@naea.org and a member of our team will follow up.
