What is the National Tax Practice Institute®?

The National Tax Practice Institute™ (NTPI®) is a three-level program developed to sharpen the skills of tax practitioners at all stages of their careers. With each level of this program, the core curriculum enables participants to expand their knowledge and skills, and gain the confidence needed to successfully guide their clients through the often-challenging maze of IRS codes, internal regulations, and agency structure. While the NTPI program itself is designed for enrolled agents, CPAs, and tax attorneysnon-enrolled agents are welcome to attend. Those who complete Levels 1, 2, and 3 earn the distinction of NTPI Fellow®, a designation held by the nation’s top tax practitioners.

NTPI Content Offerings at EA 2020 Forums and the 2020 Representation Academy

Level 1: If you are starting or continuing your journey with NTPI Level 1, you will want to take all Essential Track courses at both NAEA’s September and November forums, plus the prerequisite on-demand course Rep 101: An Overview of Representation and Assisting Nonfilers.

Level 3: If you are further along in your journey and are seeking to continue your path on Level 3, you will be able to obtain half of Level 3 content requirement at the September and November Digital Forums. The second half of Level 3 can be gained from the 2020 Tax Representation Academy on December 2-4.  To complete the Level 3 course requirements for 2020, each attendee must complete the Pro (Advanced) Education Track for the 2020 September Digital Forum and obtain 9 Continuing Education Hours. In addition, the Advanced Criminal investigations course in the 2020 November Digital Forum must be completed for 2 CE Hours. Finally, the December Representation Academy courses will fulfill the remaining 13 Continuing Education Hours to give a total of 24 CE and complete Level 3. Graduation will take place at a later date in 2021.

Graduate Level in Representation: This advanced program features content that changes every year, so you will never hear the same information twice—allowing you to return year after year. These sessions are taught by nationally recognized speakers that will engage participants in high-level discussions on advanced and timely topics. The Graduate Level in Representation track encourages networking and relationship-building that fosters a community of support and idea exchange. Take the Pro Track at NAEA’s November Digital Forum to continue or complete your journey.
