The National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) gathered in Salt Lake City, Utah, for the 2025 Annual Meeting, celebrating a year marked by membership growth, educational innovation, and impactful advocacy. Here’s a look at the major updates and achievements shared during the event. 

 

Membership Momentum 

NAEA saw a total membership increase to 8,475, up from 8,275 in 2024. New member recruitment surged, with 1,567 new members in FY25, a 41 percent increase since FY22. 

Efforts driving this growth included direct mail campaigns, presence at IRS Tax Forums, targeted digital ads, and outreach aspiring enrolled agents and students.  

 

Education Excellence 

NAEA’s educational offerings expanded with: 

  • Monthly webinars like Solutions Room and Ask the Expert 

There were more than 17,000 registrations in the 2024-2025 membership year. The “One Big Beautiful Bill” Update Webinar broke records with more than 1,000 registrations. There were also 66 new NTPI fellows added in 2025.   

 

Education Foundation Impact 

The NAEA Education Foundation awarded 338 scholarships and launched a new college scholarship program. The foundation reached over 2,000 students and educators and will be adding a new presence at the National Business Educators Association Conference. The foundation also had a record fundraising year with more than $35,000 in individual and corporate donations. 

 

Government Relations & Advocacy 

NAEA’s 2025 policy priorities focused on: 

  • Taxpayer Assistance and Services Act 
  • Balanced enforcement and IRS modernization 
  • Minimum standards for tax preparers 

Ongoing efforts include improvements to CAF processes and the formation of the Oregon Task Force and engagement with state lobbyists to introduce LTC exemption for EAs legislation in the 2026 legislative session. 

 

Public Awareness Campaigns 

NAEA ramped up its visibility with: 

  • Expanded Google and social media ads 
  • Strategic ad buys in Accounting Today and IRS Watch newsletters 
  • A tax season video campaign with more than 223,000 views, and counting  

The newly launched NAEA Insider blog and podcast series are also gaining traction, with over 2,500 streams/downloads and 431 followers across platforms.  

 

Looking Ahead 

NAEA is focused on: 

  • Expanding EA career outreach to college and university students and educators  
  • Additional programs for aspiring enrolled agents  
  • Launching all three updated levels of the NTPI program  
  • Advocating for an EA exemption in Oregon and IRS service improvements 
  • Developing new programs and services to help EAs expand their practices and adopt new technologies  
  • Supporting the growing international EA community  
  • Investing more in EA awareness campaigns and promotions
