WASHINGTON, D.C., June 18, 2020 –  Thomas Gorczynski, EA, USTCP, is the EA Journal’s first editor-in-chief, the National Association of Enrolled Agents announced today. As EA Journal approaches a milestone, its fortieth year of publication, Tom is well placed to advance the brand with intelligent perspectives, cutting-edge insights, and technical integrity. As editor-in-chief, Gorczynski will provide strategic oversight and help set the vision for tax content in the magazine, working closely with its managing editor, Janelle Julien.

In 2019, the National Association of Enrolled Agents awarded Thomas Gorczynski, EA, USTCP, the Excellence in Education Award for his acumen in educating fellow members about the complexity of §199A and the inspiration he has been to those around him to improve their craft. In 2018, he also received the Member of the Year Award from the American Institute of Certified Tax Planners.

“I am excited to be the inaugural editor-in-chief of the EA Journal, NAEA’s flagship publication. I want to guide the EA Journal to be a thought leader in the tax industry with timely and highly relevant content,” says Gorczynski. “Our ultimate goal is that readers improve their core tax law knowledge in a wide variety of areas and leverage that knowledge into success for their clients and their businesses. We also want to keep readers at the forefront of current trends in the industry to improve processes and procedures to enhance the client experience.  In the near future, I’ll be announcing an editorial board consisting of practitioners with a wide diversity of experiences and backgrounds to assist me in bringing this vision into reality.”

Gorczynski has taught for a variety of national, state, and local organizations, including the National Association of Enrolled Agents and the National Association of Tax Professionals. He also currently serves on the faculty of the National Tax Practice Institute. Gorczynski specializes in tax preparation and planning for individuals and small businesses, international tax compliance, and representation before the IRS and the United States Tax Court. He is an enrolled agent, a Certified Tax Coach, a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute, and admitted to the bar of the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents and the National Association of Tax Professionals and earned a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University and a Certificate in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

“I couldn’t be more pleased by this announcement. NAEA is making strides to create essential, actionable content and to package it intelligently to meet the needs of today’s tax professionals, whether they are already enrolled agents or aspire to become enrolled agents,” said NAEA Executive Vice President Robert Kerr, EA. Bob continued, “NAEA provides a community for a diverse set of practitioners and has turned its focus to lifetime learning and the success of its members and their clients.”
